About Diamonds
The name of the diamond comes from the Old Greek word “Adamas” which means “invincible”. As far as known, the diamond is the hardest material in nature and is the point of calibration for harshness, being 10 on the scale of Mohs. Only some industrial created materials are harder.  A 7 or higher on the Mohs scale usually indicates a gem is hard enough for normal jewelry use. â€‹
This makes the diamond suitable for all kinds of jewelry especially in rings where less hard stones can easily get scratched. The most common colors are yellow and brown, although the diamond can occur in nearly any color. The color is the result of impurities or structural defects, pure or nearly pure diamonds are transparent and colorless.
