About Topaz

Pure topaz is transparant and colorless, but by polutions it can appear in many different colors, especially yellow to brown, light blue or pink. Many topaz get their blue or pink color artificially by heat or irradiation.The name of the stone is reduced from the greek. The name comes from the legendary island Topazius in the Red sea, of which the identity is uncertain as well as the precise nature of the stones that came from it. Topaz has a hardness of 8 on the scale of Mohs. Because of the hardness Topaz can be used in any kind of jewelry.
